In numerology, it is customary to merge the numerological interpretation of your birth date, with that of your name.
Together, they are believed to have a significant influence on your life, health and happiness.
That being said, the process shown below is for one of several numerology systems, all of which give different, even contradicting, results. For each system, the approach is arbitrary and therefore, it should not be relied upon for decisions of real-world importance.
1. Prepare the letters
This page will change each lowercase letter of your name to uppercase. It will ignore spaces and non-alphabetical characters, and change accented letters to their non-accented equivalent.
Example:
Anne-Marie Adèle → ANNEMARIEADELE.
2. Assign a number to each letter
Each letter of the name is mapped to a number, 1-9, as follows:

3. Sum the digits of the vowels
Example:

(Note: For numerology, this sum must not be zero. A name such as "Lynn" has no vowel. In such cases, the letter "y" is considered to be a vowel.)
4. Sum the digits of the consonants
Example:

5. Sum the digits of all the letters
Vowels + consonants
Example: 32 + 30 = 62
6. Calculate the Soul number
To find the Soul number, add together the values of the vowels in the name and reduce the total to a single digit (unless it’s a master number).
Example:
The sum of the digits of the vowels AEAIEAEE is 32. The sum of those digits is 3 + 2 = 5. The numerology of 5 shows that the soul enjoys freedom, change and curiosity.
7. Calculate the Personality number
To find the Personality number, add together the values of the consonants in the name and reduce the total to a single digit (unless it’s a master number).
Example:
The sum of the digits of the consonants NNMRDL is 30. The sum of those digits is 3 + 0 = 3. The numerology of 3 shows that the personality is blessed with creativity, communication and optimism.
8. Calculate the Expression number
To find the Expression number, add together the values of all the letters in the name and reduce the total to a single digit (unless it’s a master number).
Example:
The sum of all the name's letters ANNEMARIEADELE is 62. The sum of those digits is 6 + 2 = 8. The numerology of 8 shows that the person has the potential for authority, power and achievement.
9. Finish off with a pinch of reality
Keep in mind that there are different numerology systems which contradict each other. A name analysed in Pythagorean, Chaldean, Kabbalistic, Japanese stroke-count, etc., yield different 'meanings'. The methods and rules are arbitrary.
If a married woman’s “destiny number” changes with her husband’s surname, yet the man’s does not, then the system cannot logically describe innate personality.
We naturally remember the bits that seem accurate and ignore the rest. This is the classic Barnum effect, where vague statements feel personal. Actual statistical tests show that numerology does not predict personality traits, life outcomes, or compatibility better than chance.
